Justine Chambers

    Justine is an independent contemporary dance artist who works actively as a choreographer, interpreter, teacher and rehearsal director. She has danced for various Canadian and international choreographers such as Desrosiers Dance Theatre, Diavolo Dance Theatre, Yossi Berg and Oded Graf, Mascall Dance, Science Friction, Lynda Gaudreau and Heidi Strauss. Most recently, she joins Tara Cheyanne Performance in the premiere of Highgate, an ensemble dance/theatre piece. Chambers is currently on faculty at Arts Umbrella and is Artist in Residence to the dance program. She teaches contemporary technique for Modus Operandi, SFU, Harbour Dance, Working Class, Way Out West and The Toronto Community Love-In. As a choreographer, Chambers has been commissioned to create work for the Music Gallery, Series 808 Season Finale (Toronto), Dancing on the Edge Festival, Dances for a Small Stage, SFU, The Contingency Plan, Vancouver Public Space Network /350.org, Code Live 2/Cultural Olympiad (Vancouver), Dance Saskatchewan (Saskatoon), and New Dance Horizons (Regina).  In July of 2010, Chambers and video artist, Josh Hite, created and produced Copy, a movement based installation.  Through a residency at the Western Front, in April 2011 Chambers began the creation of enters and exits; a collaboration with lighting designer James Proudfoot. justineachambers.com
