Laura Avery

Laura Avery began as an apprentice with 605 Collective in 2011, and in 2012, began performing as a member of the company. Originally from White Rock, BC, Laura received her contemporary dance training from Modus Operandi in Vancouver. Over the course of her time in the program, Laura has had the opportunity to work with many independent dance artists, and perform work by many guest choreographers, as well as to create new dance on screen works in collaboration with her colleagues. Laura has since worked as an interpreter with independent dance artist Justine Chambers on her movement based installation COPY, with Amber Funk Barton (the response.) for her work Portraits and Scenes of Female Creatures, and for Daina Ashbee in a new work shown as part of BC Buds Festival. She has performed her own work, created in collaboration with eight of her colleagues, as part of New Works’ Dance Allsorts in Vancouver. Laura has recently toured with Out Innerspace Dance Theatre (Tiffany Tregarthen and David Raymond), performing their work Vessel throughout BC.
