Kristen’s current work involves sound design for dance and theatre, leading Soundwalks for Vancouver New Music, teaching at Arts Umbrella, and performing live both with solo work and in the duo Spell with prOphecy sun. He recently received funding through an Audio Arts Research Grant from the Canada Council for the Arts that investigates site-specific sound and architecture. He has exhibited and performed in artists-run centers and festivals in Canada and Sweden, and his work has been aired on radio stations in New York, Boston, London, and Melbourne. His writing on sound and radio appears in the Errant Bodies publication Radio Territories, and the New Star Books publication Islands of Resistance: Pirate Radio in Canada. He has received awards for his work as a sound artist, including the Vancouver Mayors Arts Awards for the live/work space he currently lives in, and a People’s Choice Award from Nuit Blanche, Toronto.
